The Sahara tent: 100% camping

Our Sahara tents (also known as Sibley or Bell tents) are made of 100% cotton canvas. Because the threads of the fabric swell when they become wet, this natural material is totally waterproof and, unlike standard igloo and tunnel tents, ventilation and humidity control make the interior of the tent never wet or damp.
Sahara tents: quality original accommodation
In our Sahara tents, everything is arranged to make your stay pleasant.
The bedrooms, separated from the living room, are equipped with mosquito nets and comfortable beds. Pillows, blankets and duvets are on site.
A fridge, microwave, coffee maker and electric kettle will allow you to enjoy typical home comforts. A kitchen area with 3 gas burners is installed outside under an awning. Thus, you prepare your meals with a splendid view of the landscape. And of course, we have provided all the necessary dishes according to the number of people staying in the tent. You just have to bring your sheets, towels and linens. And again… it is even possible to rent sheets, towels, a high chair or a cot, provided you book them in time.
The Sahara tents do not have a water inlet or outlet but they are located close enough to our sanitary block where you will find excellent showers, sinks, toilets and other facilities.

Our Sahara tents come in 2 models. For families of up to 4 people, we offer the Sahara Family tent with its 3 separate bedrooms. For holidays for two, opt for the Sahara Duo tent with its large indoor living space and free arrival and departure days, even in high season!

Bell, Sibley, or Sahara tents? Please explain!
The “Sibley Tents” are named after their creator, Henry Hopkins Sibley, a Confederate army general during the American Civil War. He was inspired by the Indian tipis he observed in the western United States. He filed a patent for his invention in 1856. This tent without guy ropes and just one single central mast allowed for easy transportation and quick installation.
Since then, these tents have undergone some modifications and improvements. The shape has evolved slightly with short side panels added to allow for a higher opening and height. The use of guy ropes around the tent provides greater stability and wind resistance.
These tents are also conical in shape and like a bell thus the English moniker “Bell tent”.
For our campsite, we chose the Sibley double matt tent model – the “Twin”, offering a generous space inside. Their shape reminded us of the tents of nomads encountered during our travels in the Middle East and North Africa, hence the idea of calling them “Sahara tents”!
