There would be a thousand and one castles in Dordogne, who are an impressive testimony to the history of our region.

From east to west and from north to south, take a look at a few of our favourites.

After 22 years of looting, this medieval 15th century castle, located 12 km from Bergerac and 4 km from the Château de Monbazillac, was restored and opened to the public in 2012.

With family or friends, have fun with more than 40 great games or try the adventure in the “Labyrinth of the Mysterious Valley”.

The Château de Bridoire is 40 km west of the Grande Veyière.

This exceptional site tracks the progress of humans who have succeeded each other over 15,000 years. Thanks to the works still in progress, the offering of this magnificent Dordogne castle is enriched from year to year.

You will find the Château de Commarque 40 km north-east of our campsite, between Les Eyzies and Sarlat.

35 km east of our campsite, on the road to Sarlat, you will find the Château de Beynac, home to one of the four baronies of the Perigord.

Just a few kilometers further on, on the other bank of the Dordogne, you will find the Château de Castelnaud which faces that of Beynac. Since 1985, this castle has hosted the “Museum of War in the Middle Ages”.

Like Beynac, Biron was the seat of one of the four baronies of the Perigord.

The Château de Biron is situated a few kilometres from Monpazier bastide. It is recognized as a Major Site of Aquitaine and classified as a Historic Monument.

This magnificent castle is located less than 30 km south of our campsite.
