Within
the Périgord, the Dordogne and Vézère
valleys have sheltered mankind since prehistoric times. These early
inhabitants continually enhanced and enriched their surroundings.
Having adorned their caves with striking murals, in later centuries
they built imposing chateaux and villages embellished by the golden
hues of the local sandstone. We, in turn, have also benefited from this attractive heritage and have endeavoured to create our camping facility amidst these lovely surroundings without impinging upon the natural beauty of the countryside. Camping La Grande Veyière is secluded in the tranquil, sloping landscape of the Perigord (Dordogne) at the end of a country lane with no through traffic. Our quiet, idyllic campsite, surrounded by fields and woods, enjoys a convivial atmosphere. This is trully a place where you can escape from the rush of everyday life. Our campsite offers about 40 camping spots, a number of which have electric hook-up. For visitors who prefer to travel without a tent or caravan, some mobile homes, most with their own sanitary facilities, are available for rent. Our sites are arranged in an area of about 11 acres, with each one enjoying a level and well-shaded setting. The sanitary complex is well equipped, including a family and a baby-care bathroom. Free hot showers are available to all our guests. The Reception wing includes a small shop offering fresh bread every morning. Our bar, with two spacious terraces, one of them covered, is open all day long and offers take-away snacks. You can also use our large barbecue and its terrace. Here you can hang out and enjoy the company of friends and other guests. There is a pool table, table football, television and board games. We provide a computer with Internet access or you can connect your own laptop thanks to our Wifi connection. Our collection of brochures, guides and maps make it easy for you to plan your sight seeing. For ramblers, our campsite connects directly with an extensive network of footpaths that weave across the local countryside. And, of course, we are always around to give you more information if you have any questions. Don`t hesitate to ask! The 150m² lagoon-shaped swimming pool is reserved for our guests only, free of charge. For your children, we have a customised playground. Nearby, you can enjoy volleyball, badminton or ‘petanque’ (jeu de boules), or use one of our two ping-pong tables. From mid-July to mid-August, we organise several creative workshops and an occasional common meal or musical performance. Camping La Grande Veyière is especially suited for people who want to enjoy the quiet intimacy of a small campsite and the delightful surrounding nature. In 2013 our campsite will be open from June 15th up to September 15th. We look forward to welcoming you this summer! |
